Learn to Unlock Creativity with Michael Joseph

2D and 3D Artisan artist and tutor

Who is Michael and what does he do?

As an identical twin, Michael has instinctive 3D spatial awareness. An original and lateral thinker, unconstrained by convention, his work reflects a diverse skill set as a craftsman, engineer and pilot. In his early years an award-winning painter, latterly Michael’s practice has evolved to embrace a total freedom of expression whereby every piece of work has its own agency.

Who and what does Michael teach at Art Junction?

Michael’s self-trained vision looks beyond the representational to explore the imaginative recesses of the creative mind. His enthusiasm and passion are infectious. Working with beginners and experienced practitioners alike, he encourages the brave steps and artistic risks he believes unlock creativity. It is a process that provides the confidence to explore fresh subjects – often sounds, feelings, emotions or actions. Art Junction students will benefit from:

Exclusive ‘how to’ resources: including short videos and blogs which access Michael’s wide experience. He is equally comfortable with drawing, painting or sculpture and moving between 2D and 3D. Topics covered include animal subjects, casting in bronze (and how to save money doing so), fabricating steel structures or simply drawing with charcoal. He also presents a personal overview of a creative process.

Livestream life sessions: if you want to move beyond copying what is in front of you, Michael has endless ideas that guide you to see things differently, and techniques and methods to enable you to be more expressive.

1-to-1 sessions: Michael’s workshops are fun, informative and inspirational. Whatever your level, he will look at and discuss your art in a respectful, helpful, and constructively critical way. Michael is available Wednesday afternoons for 1 to 1 sessions.

In Michael’s Own Words…

“I really enjoy my art, from initial observations and thoughts right through to a finished piece of work. How I get there is a story, an adventure. It is a translation from reality into different artistic values which then provide a perception to the viewer. I can show artists how to liberate their creative spirit and find their own ‘voice’.”
