Who and what does Hazel teach at Art Junction?

Hazel offers sculptors of all levels, from beginners to established practitioners a mixture of opportunities to learn or improve their portrait sculpture work:

Exclusive ‘how to’ resources: including short videos and blogs covering how to set up a formal portrait in clay, along with exercises to make your portraits more expressive. Unusual resources include a guided tour of your skull, using drawing to capture the gesture of a portrait, and how to set up a flat head profile in clay.

Monthly livestream portrait sculpture sessions: not only is working together with a live model fun, importantly it will build your confidence and free you to use your eye and resist tendencies to over-measure. We will work ‘under-life-size’ with a different model each session, with the opportunity for you to further work on the portrait, using the photo and video pack circulated after the session.

1-to-1 sessions: no matter your level, Hazel can be there to support and motivate you. Sessions will be completely tailored to your individual needs. It could be a one-off session, to diagnose a problem with a sculptural work-in-progress. Or ongoing mentoring sessions as you face the challenges of becoming a professional sculptor. Hazel is available Monday afternoons for 1 to 1 sessions.

In Hazel’s Own Words…

“Whether you need feedback on your very first clay portrait or a forthcoming commission, or if you’ve just missed sculpting with a sitter and want the practice, I can share my techniques with you to breathe life into your work and make it more expressive.”
